Navarro Stark
Navarro grew up listening to his dad’s vast record collection from the 60s and 70s as well as New York’s best FM radio stations during the 80s and 90s. In high school, he started recording radio broadcasts to study the art of DJing from the pros, and practiced making mixtapes at home. He honed his skills in college radio on the west coast, then moved back east to Brooklyn in 1999. Right away, he got involved with New York’s longest running Hip-Hop radio show; opened up for acts including MF DOOM; and started an independent record label selling mixtapes and releasing original music. 20 years later, his personal record collection has grown to a coveted 15k+. His mixes have been sold all over the globe; and he’s played dozens of shows on NYC’s FM radio stations.
Since 2014, Navarro has held a residency at The Top of The Standard where he soundtracks from sunset dinner jazz to late night disco. And for over a decade, he has held a residency in his Brooklyn neighborhood where he caters to college kids and the community rit large, playing Top 40, Trap, Disco, House and Nostalgia (since 2012.) You can also find him dropping in on some of NY’s most fun dance parties hosted by the likes of DJ DRM, Nickodemus, and Quantic. Navarro is both a champion of your future favorite song, and a conjurer of past songs you forgot you loved.
