Derek Russo
Originally from Washington, D.C., Derek started DJing in college but got more serious with his lifelong love affair with music once he moved to Boulder, Colorado after undergrad. There, he was an integral component of the small but passionate dance music scene. Longing for new career challenges, Derek moved to Brooklyn in 2019. His DJ sets are incredibly eclectic and include high energy Boogie, Funk, Balearic, Disco, House and Techno along with accessible pop and nostalgic high school and college throwbacks.
In 2020 he founded the label, Broad Channel, as an outlet to release his productions and push the sound further. After recently wrapping a 5 year long, monthly radio show on Internet Public Radio called “Morning Fever” he has now started a new monthly show at The Face Radio in Brooklyn. In 2021 he expanded into an educator role, as a course instructor for Garnish Music Production School in downtown Brooklyn, and is currently teaching vinyl DJ classes at Superior Elevation. And, of course, Derek can also be found turning weddings and private events all over NYC and the Metro Area into full on dance party riots!
