Dan Chaves
Growing up in Florida, Dan was a prodigy on both piano and guitar and, after falling in love with hip hop, he moved on to a pair of turntables and never looked back. In college, Dan got involved at Florida State University’s radio station, WVFS, where his DJ career was officially set in motion. Learning to quickly expand outside of hip-hop, Dan started
holding several residencies in clubs across his college town spinning Top 40, Dance Reggae and 80s parties.
Dan’s passion for music led him around the world as a DJ Ambassador for the U.S. Dept. of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, leading workshops across Southeast Asia. He is also the main force at Scratch DJ Academy, working as the director of the New York City academy since 2014.
Having spun over 250 weddings, he has experience with hip-hop, bhangra, Top 40, electronica, Latin, rock, soul and pretty much any other genre that can be conjured up. He has worked with clients such as Nintendo, the US Open and the Cosmopolitan Casino in Las Vegas and plays at Governors Ball in NYC and the A3C Music Festival in Atlanta
yearly. He is the current NYC DJ City Cut to Cut champion & 2014 DMC Vice-Champion for NYC.
